Happy November everyone! I can’t believe it is so close to the end of the year ALREADY! I feel like just last weekend was the end of Summer in August. Time really flies for me these days! But I don’t mind because November is one of my favorite seasons. I start to get excited for upcoming snowfall as the temperature drops. Also, Thanksgiving is in a few weeks! A great oppurtunity to have some amazing foods. Fall definetly has a great peak for some of its flavorful foods. But then there is my favorite part of this month which is Black Friday! I love to see if I can get a good bargain. I have only been to 2 Black Fridays in my life, but I enjoy them besides the crowds because I love to shop for new items (Mostly clothes!). It also for some reason gives me a thrill to be out at about 3am or so shopping in a store. When I go shopping though, I only get a few things. I always laugh thought because it is definetly funny when I see people going crazy buying items because they think they are getting “the best deal ever”. I mean from my prespective living in Connecticut, the prices are about the same with maybe $5 off? I don’t know, maybe it is different in other states but that is what it is like here. All well, I am still excited to go out this year just to have a good time. Anyone else going out for Black Friday this year? I would love your comments. Ok, before I go, I wanted to tell everyone I got a Twitter about a week or so ago. I only have a few followers so far, but I am really hoping to get more! If you see @Kim1314, that is me, and I am following quite a few people so far so feel free to follow me. Oh and I am just getting used to it, so I am not 100% good at it yet, but just give me some time.

Preparing for Halloween! October 24, 2009

trick-or-treat

We are in the midst of preparing for Halloween!  First there was Kimberly’s costume choice.  Oh my, what to choose; the possibilities are endless.  Without taking too much time to decide Kimberly picked a character out of her favorite video game, Kingdom Hearts Two.  The character’s name is Kairi.  She wears a pink dress covered with zippers and has red hair and carries a giant gold key wrapped in flowers.  Now the dilemma was how to recreate this look.  With my Mom’s help; a genius when it comes to costume creation- Kimberly sent her grandma lots of photos of Kairi.  And the results were stunning.

The costume is exact!  But then it was up to her dad to help her create the giant key.  Oh my.  It included a trip to home depot and some gold spray paint.  Then there was the hairspray fun.  Kimberly got some red washable hairspray, which she loved so much she began to streak her hair with it.  Yikes.  Well anyway we still have some work to do to add to the giant key- it needs flowers and vines.  Kimberly also selected some cool shoes.  I will show you the finished look on Halloween.  Here is a picture of the character- and the keyblade- . Then we had to shop for pumpkins and of course the candy for the trick or treaters.  Just as I thought we were almost ready:  we decided on a halloween party at work- oh my.  Make a treat and wear a costume- what pressure!  Oh well.  It will be fun but more preparations!  I will probably be a pirate since Kimmie was a pirate a few years ago and I can borrow some accessories from her and I will be making chocolate cupcakes.  Does anyone have some great chocolate cupcake batter recipies- for 12 cupcakes?

Anyway happy preparations to you too.  Let us know what you are preparing for Halloween too!

What time is it? October 24, 2009

Hey everyone! I’m writing to you from my new iPod touch; it is really great for WordPress! I just got up about one hour ago at noon and I was so surprised!! I usually never sleep in later than 7am. I am guessing all of this school year is making me really tired when the weekend comes around. So next week is Halloween! It is coming so quickly. Today I am finishing up some props to my costume with my mom. My outfit (thank you grandma for making it!! I love it) is from my favorite videogame, Kingdom Hearts II, and I am being Kairi from the game. I think my favorite part though is that i get to dye my hair red like the character, so that will be a surprise to see! But the dye isn’t permanent luckily. I’ll be sure to post pictures when I have to dress up, which will be Friday night as I am going to a Halloween party which will be alot of fun! Anyways though, I want to talk about French now! So I picked it as my language this year and you would think you’d just have to prove you’re learning the language…well you thought wrong! It really is quite a hassle, we have these grades called Culture Points and you have to get 100 points per markig period to pass! To make the points you have to do multiple projects, I’ve done almost 12, and you get only 5 points per project, so it takes forever to fulfill the 100 points! And I have other homework too, so I never have time for it! In fact I have to do another project today which I am not to happy about at all…..Well before I end this post I would like comments, how are you spending Halloween?

My amazing photography!

My amazing photography!

Today I had a day off from school.  I haven’t done much today besides watch TV and listen to music.  Then I decided to make cookies!  I tried my photography skills to show you the cookies (the picture on top). What do you think?  Anyways, it’s been a gloomy start to Fall in Connecticut so far.  Yesterday it poured all day and the rain has caused wet leaves to cover all the roads.  Then the rain had stopped and we thought it was all over with until at amost midnight last night it started to thunderstorm!  Today, it hasn’t rained yet, but the skies are a light grey and very undeciding.  I hope the weather shapes up soon so I can start to enjoy fall some more!  How’s Fall where you are?

Kim is back-And Sad…. September 25, 2009

my old iPod *sigh*

Hi World!  Haha! Sorry I haven’t blogged in like…4 months! Let me just start with it being a VERY busy summer….of relaxing!  So, as you all know I have been [alot] obsessed with the iPod touch! Over the Summer I actually finally got one….and to sum it up into as little words as possible it was AMAZING!  My favorite part was being able to have all the applications on it so I was able to email people on it, Instant message, Go on Facebook, browse on the internet, and download many other games.  It was just so easy for me to get online often instead of turning on my laptop all the time (I know I’m THAT lazy).  iPod Touch is probably one of the best pieces of technology I have ever used.  So…Then August came. School Started for me on the 26th of that month.  It was my first day of Middle School and it was pretty much making me very nervous but I actually enjoyed it very much!  My main reason is that I get out of school an hour earlier than I used to (:

Blah Blah Blah….I had my first week…haha and we had a project in French (yes already).
I actually had most of the project on my iPod Touch so I brought it in to present. I was so happy I got a great grade on my first project this year! Then I went to my locker after G period and put the iPod in my backpack and brought it with me  to H period.  I settle into math class and as I am rifling through my backpack I come to see the  iPod isn’t there anymore. Apparently, in the 2 minute walk to my math class I can get something (THAT WAS SEALED IN MY BACKPACK) stolen! That made me very upset.  I know very well things don’t matter; but that iPod had all my planners and everything in it; so very useful!  I’ve gone very far out of my way to find ways to post it as stolen and no one has found it.  We reported to Apple and everything….and still nothing.  Then, a few days after we come to find out a student had stolen it, because in my iTunes library it showed everything this person listened to.  We then called Apple again to report this, but they still said there was no way to track the iPod. Let me just say the first few days I was torn to pieces about not having it anymore. I am still not over it much yet….but I have managed. It’s not really the part about the iPod, it’s more the fact that a 7th or 8th grader would have the nerve to do something so evil, to steal something from someone!  That is just so un-called for.  Ugh, I’m trying to be as positive as possible. So I was reading online actually that these iPod thefts are very common.  Have any of you every had yours taken?  Well, ANYWAYS! It’s great to be back and I can’t wait to share better stories with you :D

Autumn has begun and I must say I am thrilled!  I love the cooler weather and all the colors of the trees!  And I love apples!  I haven’t gone apple picking yet but I have gotten bushels from the supermarket.  How about you?  What is your favorite thing about fall?

Grilled Pork Chops June 29, 2009

Ahh- Summer. I like to spend as much time outside as I possibly can, that’s why I love this recipe.  I can grill these pork chops while sitting outside soaking up the sun.  I saw this recipe on Paula Deen’s show.  It’s simple and delicious.

I like the pork chops with the bone in best but both types work well with this recipe.  Put each pork chop on a sheet of foil and cover it with a slice of  onion, pineapple and green pepper.  Then cover it with teriyaki sauce and seal the foil like a little package to keep the juices in.  Heat the grill to 400 degrees and put the little packages on the grill for forty minutes.  I usually heat some corn on the cob and serve it with potato salad and ice tea- delicious.

Summer 2009 has just begun for me!  Yesterday was my last day of school, which was sad because I won’t see everyone for 2 months but I was happy because I finally have some time to relax and….write more blogs!  I have been waiting for Summer for so long now and its here now which is so exciting.  I have many plans over the Summer and I wish I could tell you them but that would basically ruin most of my Summer blog entries!  Haha so you just have to wait and see.  Also, in other news, my mom and I are soo sorry we haven’t made a new video in a while.  The end of the year is a rush and I’m sure right now many people are agreeing with that.  As far as the video goes though, we haven’t quite planned what we are going to vlog about so post your comments on this post and we will review them for any ideas of topics you want us to talk about or do.  Oh, I also wanted to mention if you want to ask us a question; post your comment and we might answer it in a future video because we are hoping for maybe a Question Answer vlog.  But anyways, thanks for being patient with us; now that Summer is here be expetcing more videos and posts!

now for a poll…

Update and Summer Clothing June 6, 2009

Hey everyone!  So sorry we haven’t had any recent blogs.  Anyways, happy June and Summer for maybe a few of you out there that are already on Summer vacation.  I still have about 2 weeks before mine; so it’s not quite Summer yet for me.  So what I wanted to talk about today was Summer clothing.  My trip today to the mall inspired me when I saw all the cute clothes at all the stores.  In my opinion, Summer has some of the best clothes; except one thing I miss is my Uggs because they go good with just about anything but its way to warm for them!  At least I still have my flip flops which I try to wear almost everyday and even sometimes to school (Even though I’m not allowed).  But anyways, I kind of got off track.  Back to clothes.  One popular must have for Summer is a cute cover up or Summer dress.  This was one of my favorites that I saw. (below)

aero dress

This is a cute coverup/dress from Aeropostale which is now only $14.99 and was originally $34.50.

Tips:Some tips for using this as more of a dress are layering with another tanktop that has some kind of embellishment which draws attention.  For a more casual look, wear that with a pair of jeans or capris and as far as footwear goes; ballet flats or flip flops are ideal.

Another must have Summer item is the Sunglasses.  Some sunglasses can be classic and more laid back while others are so neon they are noticed from miles away.  As far as sunglasses go, the more original the better.  Here’s a few pairs that I found I was fond of.

aero shadesThis was one of the pairs I found at Aeropostale.  The style is called Venice Beach Sunglasses.  They are a steal at only $9.99 , especially when you see the original price is $19.50

armani shades

Then there was this pair found at Macys.  They look exactly like the pair availiable at Aeropostale; except the price tag is $70.00 and this is because of the brand: Armani Exchange Oval Sunglasses.  Maybe if you wanted to splurge on these, but I know for most people they would rather get the pair of Aeropostale.

So, that was just a few things I saw at the mall today…Happy Shopping! :)

Yeah, it’s memorial day weekend once again.  I am thirlled as summer is my favorite season.  As we honor our soldiers past and present we like to enjoy the outside and barbeque.  Of course, I can’t forget the iced tea.  It’s a time to cool down and sip some sushine.  Here is my recipe for iced tea.

3 or 4 Teabags

Sugar

Fresh Lemon Juice

Fill a teakettle with water and boil

Put 3 or 4 tea bags (depending on how dark you like your tea) in a large  pot.

In a small saucepan heat one cup of sugar mixed with one cup of water.  Bring to a simmer until the liquid turns clear, turn off heat and let cool.

Let the tea bags sit in the water for 20 minutes.

Fill a pitcher halfway with crushed ice.

Add 1/2 cup of lemon juice to the sugar mixture.

Add the cooled tea to the pitcher, then add the sugar mixture and if the pitcher is not full add some more cold water and stir.

You could also add some lemon slices to the pitcher.

Sit back and enjoy a tall cool glass.
